It is moving in the right direction and everything seems to be working pretty good. At this point, the feature is mostly bloat when it comes to Dashlane, so it likely won’t be missed by anyone.ĭashlane does need to work at expanding support for biometrics though, as well as overall improvement on its benefits. It’s just as easy to scan your receipts to a PDF file using the many ways of pulling this off (ie, physical scanner, mobile app, etc). However, I wouldn’t be surprise if few people were making use of this. The only other feature we couldn’t find in the browser addons is the “receipts” section. You are also required to make use of your master password a lot more often, despite having biometrics enabled on the browsers that do support it. Firefox, for example, still lacks this function. Pretty much the only noticable feature is biometrics, as only Chromium-based browsers are supporting this as of right now (ie, Chrome, Edge, etc). In some cases, there are missing features that it will have to continue development on to bring things 100% to where the desktop app was. Regardless of Dashlane’s decision, the company (at least) waited until all functionality of the desktop app was present within the extensions/addons. There could, of course, be other reasons as well.

The discontinued desktop app is no longer in use So instead, it is wise that the company built everything into the addons/extensions to keep things internal to the browser. Likely because certain browsers make it a little difficult to send data to and from applications that are external to the browser.

Instead, users are to use the individual browser addons/extensions that the company feels to be more efficient for both function and development. There will no longer be any support or updates for the app and it should automatically kick you out from using it. The company reached out to subscribers via email to let them know that the desktop app will be officially dropped as of today. Dashlane (a popular password management tool) has been threatening to do this for a while now and the time has finally come.
